How to write COPY & build Landing Pages that Convert

We’re trying to create ‘The Perfect B2B Marketing Campaign’.

Copywriting Techniques You Can Steal

1 - Use the Voice of The Customer

“The best copy is not written. It’s found!” – Jess Cook

Jess reviewed in-depth customer research we conducted with customers of The B2B Incubator prior to crafting the messaging for our landing page. 

This was a vital step so she could understand the pain and anxieties our customers were experiencing, and how our program helped B2B marketers overcome these.

It also allowed her to understand what our greatest benefits and features were in the eyes of the customer. 

She then used this information to craft our copy in a way that shows our Dream Customers that we deeply understand exactly how they’re feeling, and have just the right solution to remedy it. 

Repeating the customers’ words in your copy is a great way to keep your communication simple and effective.

2 - The Rule of Threes

Three is a MAGICAL number. It seems substantial, but it’s easy to remember. So when you have lists of 5 or 6 things, consolidate it and cut it down to 3. 

People are much more likely to read it and retain the information.

3 - Don't Be Afraid to use Language that Excludes People

Using language and terms that only mean something to your Ideal Customers can be a great way to make them feel right at home. 

Here Jess recommended we update our headline to ‘Get Your Demand Gen Strategy Out of Your Brain and Down on Paper’. 

This makes it very clear that this program is for marketers who (a) know what demand gen is, and (b) have some kind of demand gen strategy – it’s just sort of all over the place. 

In contrast, a marketer that has never heard of demand gen would find this language confusing, and will think the program is not suited to them.
